The University of Texas at Tyler recently announced its Gamma Beta Sigma Honor Society Chapter received honors distinction for the 2017-18 year. Beta Gamma Sigma is the international honor society serving business programs accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.

The Beta Gamma Sigma Chapter Honor Roll program awards active collegiate chapters that engage their student members. Recognition is based on member acceptance rate and participation in promotional events and activities, such as recognition and induction ceremonies.

"We couldn't be prouder of all of our student members," said Dr. Sherry Jackson, chapter adviser. "Being recognized as an honors chapter acknowledges their successes and all of the hard work they have put in to promote BGS and the Soules College of Business."

UT Tyler membership has grown 31 percent from the previous year, she said.

Membership in Beta Gamma Sigma is the highest worldwide recognition a business student can receive in an AACSB-accredited academic institution. Beta Gamma Sigma has inducted more than 625,000 outstanding students into membership since its founding in 1913.

The honor society's mission is to encourage and honor academic achievement in business studies, foster personal and professional excellence and advance society values while serving its members.
