UT Tyler to Offer SAT Prep Courses to High School Students

The University of Texas at Tyler has announced that it is providing free Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) preparatory courses to help high school prepare for the exam.

"Scoring well on college entrance exams can help students gain access to higher education and qualify for prestigious scholarships,'' said Dr. Laura Jackson, UT Tyler assistant vice president for government and community affairs. "The University of Texas at Tyler is pleased to support the success of East Texas students transitioning to higher education.''

Partnering with Capstone Advising, the University will offer the course on its Tyler, Longview and Palestine campuses, beginning Saturday, May 4, and concluding Saturday, May 25, to prepare students for the June 1 SAT exam.

The course will hold up to 30 students on each UT Tyler campus, with spots available on a first-come, first-served basis. Lunch will be served during each session.

Classes will be held:

• 9:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. Saturday, May 4

• 9:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. Saturday, May 11

• 8 a.m. – Noon Saturday, May 18 (Practice Test)

• 9:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. Saturday, May 25
