Idea Integrates Chemistry in Gameplay

The University of Texas at Tyler announced students from the University Academy Tyler (UA) were chosen winners of the 2021 East Texas High School Idea Challenge.

The UA team presented Bonding, a card game in which players increase their knowledge of chemistry by making covalent, ionic and metallic chemical bonds. Team members are Theoren Stroud, JP Kinsner, Alex Mejias and Nyssa Kypuros.

The East Texas High School Idea Challenge is an annual contest designed to inspire the next generation of inventors and entrepreneurs. 

Winners earn a scholarship to UT Tyler, and their school receives $2,500 to invest in entrepreneurship and innovation programming.
