Did You Know?

To gain temporary access to a former employee’s electronic resources, please submit a request for “Electronic Access to Email and/or OneDrive” via the HelpNow portal. Once the request is routed through the approval process, Information Technology can grant the temporary access. Access is only available for 28 days. Please set an Outlook reminder and move the files before they are permanently unavailable. (Note: Please DO NOT submit the request before the employee’s separation of employment.)

How to Make a Request

You can drag and drop emails from one folder to another in the Outlook desktop app by following these steps:

  1. Open Outlook and navigate to the folder containing the emails you want to move.
  2. Select the email(s) you want to move. You can select multiple emails by holding down the Ctrl key while clicking on each email.
  3. Click and hold the selected email(s) with your mouse.
  4. Drag the email(s) to the desired folder in the folder pane on the left side of the screen.
  5. Release the mouse button to drop the email(s) into the new folder.

If you encounter any issues with dragging and dropping, make sure the feature is enabled in Outlook settings[1]. You can also try restarting Outlook or checking for updates to resolve any temporary glitches[1]

OneDrive should be used for: personal work documents like meeting notes for personal use, drafts of emails and letters and templates
Team's/SharePoint should be used for: Documents others can view and edit, documents required by law to be retained
Note: Files stored on OneDrive are only available for 90 days after an employee separates. If you don't move those files, you will lose them.
