Digital accessibility means making sure everyone can access and use digital content, including people with disabilities. Digital content includes, but is not limited to:

Instructional materials and online learning resources
Electronic documents such as PDFs, Word files, emails, and presentations
Websites and social media
Videos and podcasts

Why it Matters

Accessible content helps everyone find, understand, and use information more easily. It supports inclusive learning and engagement while helping ensure equal access to university programs, services, and resources.

By making content accessible from the start, UT Tyler can better serve all members of the university community and reduce the need for individual accommodations.

Faculty and instructors should create accessible course content.

Digital Accessibility and Information Technology provide guidance, training, resources, and support to help content creators meet accessibility requirements.

Accessibility is most effective when it is considered from the beginning of the content creation process rather than after content has already been published.

UT Tyler Resources

Access Academy

Access Academy is a free online training program provided by the Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR) through its partnership with Level Access. It offers role-based training and live webinars for a wide range of digital accessibility topics, from foundational concepts to advanced technical training.

Registration is required to access the training catalog. UT Tyler employees can request access by emailing Level Access Support from your University email account. You will receive a registration link within 1–2 business days.
