Recruitment is known as “The lifeblood of any organization”. Adding new members to an organization is always an exciting time and here at UT Tyler, recruitment is no different. We don’t “rush” people to make decisions, we allow our organizations and aspirant members time to make the decisions that are right for themselves. There are several ways that students can be recruited into a fraternity or sorority: formal recruitment, informal recruitment, and intake.
Formal Recruitment is a mutually selective process for those who are interested in joining a fraternity or sorority come and find out more about the values and membership in the organization.
Informal Recruitment is a more “relaxed” type of recruitment. Sometimes called “relational recruiting”, it allows an aspirant member to examine whether a particular organization may be right for them, outside of the “formal recruitment” period. Sometimes you will hear the term COB.
Intake is how culturally based organizations choose members. Typically, this includes attending an informational session, filling out an application, and interview, and then potential member selection.
