Community Engagement

Through our many concerts, productions, recitals, outreach events, festivals, master classes and workshops, students and faculty of the School of Performing Arts are highly engaged with the community year-round. Additional special outreach activities include the following.

Community Partners
In addition to our outreach concerts, master classes, and workshops, the UT Tyler School of Performing Arts partners with several local arts organizations to enrich our region’s cultural life and provide mutual support and student engagement. Two especially close partners are:

East Texas Youth Orchestra (ETYO)
The East Texas Youth Orchestra is a regional youth orchestra serving young musicians from across East Texas. Through its various ensembles—from strings to full symphony—the ETYO provides high-level orchestral training, performance opportunities, and community outreach concerts. Tyler Community Band
The Tyler Community Band is a volunteer ensemble made up of adult amateur and semi-professional wind and percussion players in the Tyler area. Its mission is to make community band music accessible and to provide performance opportunities that span classic band repertoire, pops, and more.
