Civil Engineering

Lab study of fluid mechanicsStudents in The University of Texas at Tyler Department of Civil Engineering develop knowledge and skills on the cutting edge through student-centered undergraduate and graduate education and research. Students may choose to study at our main campus in Tyler, TX, or they may earn a UT Tyler civil engineering bachelor of science through our satellite program in the Houston Engineering Center of Houston Community College.

Civil engineers use complex technology and a strong knowledge base in science, mathematics and engineering to creatively solve society's problems. Civil engineers shape the world we live in, creating the transportation networks we use to deliver goods globally, providing life-sustaining water supply systems, guiding environmental protection and remediation, designing structural supports for soaring bridges and skyscrapers, stabilizing the earth beneath our feet, and directing construction projects from the cradle to completion through the structural, hydrology, transportation, construction, geotechnical, environmental, and surveying disciplines of civil engineering.
