Overview

The Division of Infectious Diseases was established in 2024 as part of a growing academic medical enterprise dedicated to advancing research, education and clinical care across East Texas. Although newly established, the division builds upon over five decades of excellence in infectious diseases care, research and education at UT Tyler and its affiliated institutions.

Our Mission

The Division of Infectious Diseases is committed to:

  • Clinical Excellenceprovide comprehensive, high-quality clinical care in the diagnosis and management of complex bacterial, fungal, and viral infections. Our physicians serve as a regional resource for specialized infectious diseases consultation, ensuring patients across East Texas have access to expert care.
  • Research Innovation – driving discovery through basic, translational and clinical research.
  • Academic Advancement – training the next generation of physicians and scientists.

Through this mission, we strive to improve access to infectious diseases care and strengthen the health of the East Texas region through education, discovery and compassionate service.
