Commencement Registration

Summer 2025 graduates register through Tassel starting  TBA (October 2025)  

Tassel is the platform where you can register for your graduation ceremony, claim tickets, and access important event details. It’s the one-stop site to manage your graduation participation and ensure everything’s set for the big day!
  • If you do not plan to participate, you must indicate this through Tassel  or you will not be listed in the digital Commencement Program.

  • You are welcome to make as many changes as you would like until it closes on TBA (tentative Oct 28, 2025) at 11:59 pm CST
    • Any changes made to your Commencement Registration through Tassel after this deadline will have to be adjusted at Student Check-In on the day of the Commencement ceremony.

Regalia/Attire

Academic regalia is the traditional dress of mortarboard/tam (cap) and gown for degree candidates participating in the Commencement ceremonies. You can view the current official licensed UT Tyler Commencement regalia that Please note, regalia is REQUIRED to participate in the Commencement ceremonies.

Master's / Bachelor's Regalia

Master’s and Bachelor’s degree regalia can be purchased, either at the UT Tyler Campus Bookstore or online. The priority deadline for ordering Master's / Bachelor's regalia online is Monday, November 17, 2025. Late orders will be accepted until (Friday, November 28, 2025, but may incur additional fees for expedited shipping and processing. Master's / Bachelor's regalia can be ordered in person from the UT Tyler Bookstore through Saturday, December 13th, 2025. Master's or Bachelor's regalia may NOT be rented. 

Doctoral Regalia

Doctoral regaila can be purchased or rented, either at the UT Campus Store or on-line.

Doctoral candidates who wish to PURCHASE regalia should place their orders online here. Since these are custom orders, the deadline for purchasing doctoral regalia is Tuesday, October 21, 2025.

Doctoral candidates who wish to RENT regalia may due so through the UT Tyler Campus Bookstore or online.

    • Deadline for ONLINE orders is Monday, November 17, 2025.
      • no additional shipping fees
    • LAST Deadline for ONLINE orders is Friday, November 28, 2025.
      • WILL incur additional shipping / expedited fees
    • Deadline for IN-PERSON orders is Monday, November 17, 2025.

 

General Regalia Information

These ceremonies will be indoors and there will be quite a bit of walking. Please dress appropriately for this formal event and wear appropriate footwear.

  • Appropriate business-casual attire is to be worn under your gown. Casual sandals and stiletto heels are not appropriate. You will do a considerable amount of standing and walking as you are escorted to your ceremony seats located on the floor of the Cowan Center.
  • We strongly suggest you try on the regalia at least one week prior to the ceremony, allowing time to secure a replacement if problems with sizing or zippers occur.
    • Pro tip: Try it on and then hang it up! 
  • The mortarboard (cap) is made to be worn flat on the head (parallel to the floor) and Bachelor's degree candidates will wear their tassels over the right eye throughout the conferral of all degrees. The ceremony will conclude, at which time you will be instructed to move your tassel to the left. Candidates of a master’s, graduate, or doctoral program do not move their tassels, your tassel will begin on the left side of your mortarboard and stay there. 

    • Candidates are permitted to decorate their mortarboard. Please contact the UTT Office of Student Engagement for inquiries on decorating guidelines. getconnected@uttyler.edu

There will be no storage area for your belongings, please bring only what you can carry on your person. The UT Tyler staff and faculty will not take possession of or be responsible for any of your belongings.


Guest Ticketing

You will reserve these within the Commencement Registration through Tassel.

    • Admission to the ceremony is free, however, ALL guests are required to have a ticket for entry. 

    • Tickets are only valid for your specific ceremony.

    • If a guest, including children and infants, does not have a ticket they will NOT be allowed to enter the event.

 

  • Round 1:
    • Opens: Wednesday, October 29th at 10:00 am CST
    • Closes: Monday, November 10th at 11:59 pm CST
      • Any unreserved tickets will be evenly allotted to the students that had already reserved their tickets for the Round 2 ticketing.
  • Round 2:
    • Opens: Wednesday, November 12th at 10:00 am CST
    • Closes: Wednesday, November 19th at 11:59 pm CST
      • Any unreserved tickets will be available to be reserved for the Round 3 ticketing on a first come first serve basis until all tickets are reserved.
  • Round 3:
    • Opens: Wednesday, December 3rd at 10:00 am CST
    • Closes: Saturday, December 13th at 2:00 pm CST

It is the candidate's responsibility to ensure all ticketing information is relayed to their guests.

Friends and family members unable to attend, are welcome to view the live streaming broadcast of the ceremony from the UTTyler Youtube Channel.


GradPass

***IMPORTANT UPDATE*** 

  • Online GradPasses through Tassel will not be available for download. GradPasses were not issued digitally for this ceremony.
  • Instead, you will receive a physical GradPass card at check-in. This card will include your name and degree information, which will be used during the ceremony announcement.
  • Please review your card carefully before the ceremony begins. If any corrections are needed, notify a staff member at check-in. Changes cannot be made once the ceremony is underway.
 


Student Rehearsal (Optional)

Two rehearsals will be held on Tuesday, December 9th. Rehearsal is optional and students are not required to attend rehearsal to participate in the commencement ceremony. Rehearsals are not specific to a particular ceremony, degree, college, or school. Therefore, students can choose which rehearsal they would like to attend form the options below: 

  • 9:00am CST
    • Morning Rehearsal
  • 1:00pm CST
    • Afternoon Rehearsal


Parking

Parking lots will open 1.5 hours prior to the ceremony start time and will be available for guests and students on a first come first serve basis.

The students will proceed through two stations on the way to lineup:

  • Check-In
    • GradPass Verification
    • Obtain your name card
    • Fall 2025 undergraduates who achieve Latin honors status, per Spring/Summer 2025 credit hours and GPA will be able to pick up their honor cords.
  • Pre-Ceremony Photography
    • Photos are taken of each candidate before line-up and as they cross the stage. Purchase is not necessary. To view, proof, and purchase photos, students may contact Flash Photography.
  • Students will then proceed to the lineup areas, where UT Tyler faculty marshals and staff can assist you.

Accessibility Services

If you are in need of assistance for your commencement ceremony, please indicate this in the appropriate area on Tassel registration. We also ask that you email the Office of the Registrar at graduation@uttyler.edu to discuss how to best accommodate your needs. If needed / requested, we will provide a day/time slot for you to visit with a representative from the office (in person, at the Cowan Center) prior to the ceremony. The registrar's office is committed to providing support for students with disabilities.
