The University of Texas at Tyler Office of International Programs (OIP) serves as a pathway to the world, providing UT Tyler students with access to globally focused programs and offering the Tyler-East Texas community with international travel information.  

  • OIP's Study Abroad unit assists faculty to create quality travel study and recreational opportunities abroad for UT Tyler students, placing a high priority on safety and security, and guides UT Tyler students through the process to prepare to travel abroad, stands by to assist during their trip, and offers opportunities to share their experiences with others across campus upon their return during International Education Week.

What is Generation Study Abroad?

UT Tyler's study abroad program has a new partnership with Generation Study Abroad, an organization dedicated to sending more students overseas for life-changing and resume-building study and experience. Through education abroad, students can gain important global competencies such as language, cross-cultural communications, empathy, adaptability, and problem solving skills. Strong evidence indicates that students who study abroad have better grades, experience less attrition and graduate from college at higher rates than students who do not study abroad, and have a competitive edge on the job market.

Travel/study courses organized by UT Tyler faculty and staff varying in length from one to five weeks, typically occurring over vacation periods such as Spring Break and during the summer terms. Oftentimes these include study abroad opportunities and regional study programs created through collaborations among faculty in multiple departments and colleges.
