2026Adedire Owulebaja is studying Biology and was awarded the Presidential Rose Scholarship. She wanted a career in medicine that values patient-doctor interaction. Adedire started shadowing optometry doctors and fell in love with the practice. To prepare for Optometry school, she chose to major in biology at UT Tyler. The faculty have been truly passionate about what they teach. She advises students to take advantage of the diversity on campus and build a wide community in college because it's an experience they won't be able to have again.

Receiving the Presidential Rose Scholarship has been one of the greatest privileges of Adedire's life. This scholarship program has been an amazing way to grow a deeper connection to UT Tyler in her last year of school. It's been memorable for her to be involved in what's happening on campus and in the community. Building relationships with other Rose Scholars was valuable to Adedire's experience at UT Tyler. The program has been instrumental in forming the connections she has in college. Through the Rose Scholar program, Adedire learned skills such as leadership and team building that she will carry with her after graduation.
