Presidential Rose Scholar Emmanuel Ramirez
Presidential Rose Scholar Spotlight
Emmanuel Ramirez
Accounting
2026Emmanuel Ramirez is an accounting major at UT Tyler. He chose to go to UT Tyler because of its proximity
to home. Between overcoming obstacles as a first generation student and pressure from
other friends, Emmanuel is grateful he chose UT Tyler. The Soules College of Business
and the accounting program have strong ties with local accounting firms, providing
Emmanuel with valuable internship opportunities. With the help of the accounting faculty,
he got involved in student organizations and completed two accounting internships.
Emmanuel wanted the Presidential Rose scholarship so he could represent the other
first-generation students and pave a path showing it's possible for them as well.
One of the best things he can do at donor events is network. After graduation, he
hopes to mentor upcoming Rose Scholars. During Emmanuel's sophomore year of college,
his mom was diagnosed with cancer. Commuting back and forth from home made this time
even more difficult, but he persisted. Emmanuel advises other students in similar
situations to give it their all. With his mom now in remission, things have started
looking up. Emmanuel believes that representing UT Tyler as a Rose Scholar has been
the perfect ending to his college career.
