Madyson Tate is a senior civil engineering major. She plans on continuing her education by pursuing her masters in the 4 + 1 program at UT Tyler. She was originally inspired to pursue engineering after her cousin made a suggestion. Once Madyson began taking classes at UT Tyler, she quickly learned that she loved civil engineering. Through the guidance of Dr. Solomon, Madyson found a specific interest in transportation engineering. She took his transportation class and decided that's the branch she wants to go into.

Receiving the Presidential Rose Scholarship means everything to Madyson. This is her second year as a Rose Scholar. She initially didn't receive the scholarship her first year, but after learning how to improve, she was awarded the Presidential Rose Scholarship the following year. As a student athlete, this scholarship helped her transition from basketball to focusing on education.

One day, she hopes to give back to the Rose Scholar program by impacting the students in the same way she was strongly impacted. She is thankful that UT Tyler and their scholarship programs were there to support and guide her through her college years.
