Maxwell Burer is a dedicated music education and performance student. In high school, Maxwell studied guitar with a private instructor who formed a list of music programs to choose from. UT Tyler was the first on the list. After graduation, he plans on becoming a music educator in East Texas. Maxwell loves working with children, so he plans on teaching elementary school. After a few years, he wants to attend graduate school in music education at the university level. With his involvement in the honors college and local church, Maxwell formed a strong community in East Texas. As a Presidential Rose Scholar, Maxwell has opportunities to represent the school to the community. Being a Rose Scholar has taught him how to work towards goals and how his accomplishments can mean something. Maxwell plans to take the professional communication skills he learned in the program to his future career. The Rose Scholar program provided him with networking opportunities that will aid his music education goals. Maxwell feels enthusiastic and equipped because of UT Tyler's role in his journey.
