Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship

Welcome to The UT Tyler School of Medicine Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship Program! In July 2023 our training program welcomed its first class of fellows. We are a rapidly growing institution!

Our program’s mission is to develop leaders in cardiovascular disease care for the East Texas community, primarily through advanced and systematic education of fellows and faculty. The program is focused on caring for all levels of cardiovascular care in the community by continuing to be the preferred reference service for cardiology care in the East Texas region.

Like the university, Tyler is a growing city with urban amenities and a small-town feel. Tyler is known for its rose industry, parks, and area lakes. We have our own symphony orchestra and a variety of venues for food and live music. The Texas Rose Horse Park and Caldwell Zoo provide plenty of opportunities for equestrians and animal lovers. Also, being 90 miles between Shreveport and Dallas, we have access to big events without the expense or traffic!

Thank you for taking the time to learn about our program. I hope that you will take the opportunity to see why our program truly is a special place to train.

Sincerely,

Raul Torres-Heisecke, MD FHRS
Program Director
