Youth Protection

UT Tyler is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for minor participants of youth activities and programs. Faculty, staff, students, and external staff, therefore, are expected to hold themselves to the highest standards of conduct when interacting with youth.

Activities and programs involving non-enrolled minors are integral to UT Tyler. The office of Youth Protection supports the campus community by establishing standards regarding the protection of minors, delivering education and training, while assessing risk and monitoring compliance with the University’s Youth Protection Policy and regulatory statutes the University must adhere to.

Mission: We are dedicated to promoting the protection of youth (minors) through the effective implementation of both current and future initiatives. Our goal is to maintain a safe, supportive environment for all staff, students, and visitors on campus.

Vision: We are committed to prioritizing the safety, well-being, and growth of youth within the Tyler community. By fostering a safe and supportive environment, we will navigate university policies to ensure our programs effectively protect the youth in our care.

Purpose: The Youth Protection Office aims to enhance safety, consistency, and awareness across our campus youth programs.
