Biography

Dr. Pieper joined the Electrical Engineering department as Associate Professor at UT Tyler in 2003.  He retired as Associate Professor in 2018, and returned to the Electrical Engineering department as an Adjunct Lecturer in 2019. 

His teaching experience includes Associate Professor at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California from 1989 - 2003; Assistant Professor at Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, Virginia from 1985 - 1988; and was a Visiting Assistant Professor, Research Assistant, and Teaching Assistant at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa from 1981 - 1985.  In the corporate sector, Dr. Pieper was a Process Characterization Engineer at MOSTEK Co. in Carrollton, Texas from 1979 - 1981.  From 1975 - 1979, he was a Teaching Assistant in both the ECE and Physics departments at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wisconsin.

Dr. Pieper served as Director of the Center for Organic Semiconductor Modeling and Simulation (COSMOS) from Fall 2007 - 2012. and was an associate editor of IEEE from 2007 - 2009.  He is a member of several professional societies, and offered professional society service as a steering committee member and conference chairman for several symposiums.
