Housing and dining rates are per student, per semester, and billed to student accounts 1 month prior to the start of each semester.

Student move-in begins the weekend before start of class each semester.

Dining Services

Meal Plan Requirements

Students who live in on-campus housing are required to purchase a meal plan. Off-campus students have the option of purchasing either an on-campus meal plan or a commuter plan. Plans are available for fall and spring semesters.

How meal plans work

Paid meal plans are automatically loaded onto resident students accounts prior to the start of the semester based on where they will be staying. Since Ornelas Hall residents do not have a kitchen in their suites, they can choose between the top 3 meal plans. Apartment residents can choose the Blue Plan or any above plan. To change your meal plan, email the Office of Housing & Residence Life at housing@uttyler.edu. 

Meal swipes

Meal swipes are a certain number of meals you can eat at the MET located on the first floor of the University Center. When students purchase a meal plan, they are pre-paying for the meals they will eat during one semester. Each time students have their P2 Card swiped at the MET, one meal is deducted from the total.

Dining Dollars

Meal plans include Dining Dollars. Students can use Dining Dollars to eat at any on-campus retail location and for purchases in the Swoop N’ Go convenience store.

Meal plans charges and balances are per term, are non-refundable and do not carryover to next term. Any exceptions must be approved by the Director of Housing & Residence Life and the Vice President for Budget and Finance & CFO.
