Research Interests

Current projects:

Algae systematics, ecology, and evolution – Current research includes cryptophyte systematics, evolution of cryptophyte photosynthesis, and cryptophytes as bioremediators.

Avian ecology – Nesting behavior on university campuses and avian ecology in Texas wetlands.

Aquatic insects – Distribution of threatened Ephemeroptera, Plecoptera, and Trichoptera species of Texas.

Crayfish – Delineating Louisiana species of crayfish.

Freshwater mussel ecology – Resource (food) partitioning of freshwater mussels in multispecies mussel beds.
