Research Interests:

Dr. Rose is committed to improving health outcomes for all with a focus on the special needs of rural populations. She is active in both community-based research as well as secondary data analysis using advanced analytic techniques including predictive modeling. Dr. Rose is committed to collaborating with and mentoring others in research methodologies and data science.

Dr. Rose’s program of research is centered on stroke prevention and quality of life for informal caregivers of stroke survivors. Dr. Rose employs both quantitative and qualitative methods in her research. Another aspect of her research is in data science. Dr. Rose incorporates data science techniques to merge large datasets including hospital discharge data, non-medical drivers of health, rural-urban classifications, and co-morbidity indices. These combined data can then be analyzed using predictive modeling to aid in identifying factors that are predictive of patient outcomes of interest and inform public health interventions.
