Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship – Overview

Applicants

The hospice and palliative medicine fellowship will accept two applicants, each year.

Applications must be submitted through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) platform. 

Secure three letters of recommendation from respected professionals in the field.

Interviews will be virtual and are held September through October.

Sponsorship

Visa Sponsorship for the Fellowship is “J1 only”.

Rotations

The Core rotations will be held at the following locations:

  • UT Health Tyler (consults for hospice and palliative care)
  • Hospice of East Texas (inpatient and home-based hospice)
  • Texas Palliative Care (outpatient palliative care)

Required rotations include: (see curriculum)

  • ICU
  • Interventional Pain Management
  • Long-term Care
  • Hospice Administration
  • Pediatrics

Fellows have the opportunity to conduct home visits as part of the program.

Fellows also get a two-week dedicated research block.

Electives

Fellows will have six weeks dedicated to electives.

Elective choices include:

  • Cardiology
  • Interventional Pain Management
  • Nephrology
  • Neurology
  • Oncology
  • Pulmonary
