Biography

Professional and Research Interests:

Design, development, and implementation of K-12 STEM learning environments focused on fostering computational thinking, engineering design, and robotics design process through programming and robotics tools among under-served student populations.

Current Research Includes:

  • Invent new approaches to K-6 STEM learning with technologies (programming tools, robotics)
  • Develop problem-based learning environment across STEM curricula integrating new technologies such as programming applications, robotics, and physical/virtual manipulatives
  • Integrate math and science concepts with programming and engineering design processes to promote students' understandings of STEM concepts and computational thinking
  • Design innovative research methods to understand the impact of technology-integrated STEM learning environment in under-resourced schools
  • Explore and expand the online and blended learning to foster students' social and cognitive presence and to guide the design, delivery, and support of online learning in K-12 and higher education
