Resident Annual Salary – 2026 – 2027
PGY-1 $64,168 (5,347.33/mos)
PGY-2 $66,664 (5,555.33/mos)
PGY-3 $69,160 (5,763.33/mos)
PGY-4 $71,656 (5,971.33/mos)
PGY-5 $74,152 (6,179.33/mos)
PGY-6 $76,752 (6,396.00/mos)
* residents are paid the first of each month
Insurance
- Medical insurance coverage provided for resident with no premium (may add dependents as applicable)
- Dental coverage provided for resident with no premium

Vacation and Sick Leave
- Vacation: 20 days of paid vacation per academic year
- Sick leave: 12 days per academic year
- Vacation and Sick days do not carry over from academic year to academic year
Educational *
- Laptop computer during residency
- Pub Med and Up-To-Date provided by HSC
- Registration paid for applicable certification courses (ex. ACLS)
- Funds available up to $500 toward Step 3 or COMLEX 3 exam
- Funds available up to $700 toward Texas Medical License
- Funds available up to $500 per academic year for books and other approved educational resources
