Critical Care
The Division of Critical Care within the Department of Medicine is committed to building a fully integrated, multispecialty critical care platform. In doing so, we will be capable of delivering the highest caliber of care to our most complex, critically ill patients – all without the need to leave East Texas. The optimal delivery of modern critical care requires a culture of collaboration from experts in a variety of fields: emergency medicine, trauma, cardiology, pulmonary medicine, general surgery, neurology, neurosurgery, anesthesia, interventional radiology and cardiothoracic surgery. Emblematic of our mission and a direct offshoot of our efforts to stand up the region's only ECMO program, our division's goal is to develop additional multispecialty teams to better serve our patients suffering from pulmonary embolism, shock, and cardiopulmonary arrest.
Training the next generation of physicians is central to our long-term mission of elevating the quality of healthcare throughout East Texas. It is our philosophy that thoughtfully designed and implemented clinical education platforms provide substantial advantages to the delivery of ideal patient care. The energy, enthusiasm and optimism of our young, developing physicians provides a continuous stimulus for growth and evolution. The establishment of strong and reliable clinical and educational programs combined with a modern data infrastructure will facilitate the research efforts of the various thought leaders our community supports. Focusing on the success of our young trainees and researchers is our best strategy to ensure the health care system flourishes for decades to come.
