Microsoft 365 for School of Medicine Students

As a School of Medicine student, you have access to Microsoft 365, a powerful suite of productivity and collaboration tools that can be used for coursework, communication, research and group projects. Your Microsoft 365 account is accessed using your Patriots credentials and provides both web-based applications and downloadable desktop software for eligible devices.

Accessing Microsoft 365 Online

Students can access Microsoft 365 online from any internet connected device by signing in with their Patriots account.

Getting started:

  • Visit the Microsoft 365 portal
  • Sign in using your Patriots email address and password
  • Launch any available application directly from your web browser

Using the web versions of Microsoft 365 allows you to work from virtually anywhere without installing software.

Available Web Applications
  • Outlook - Manage your university email, calendar, contacts and tasks.
  • Word - Create, edit and collaborate on documents.
  • Excel - Organize, analyize and visualize data.
  • Powerpoint - Design professional presentations and collaborate with classmates.
  • OneDrive - Store and access files securely in the cloud.
  • Teams - Communicate and collaborate with peers and faculty.
  • OneNote - Create and organize digital notebooks.
  • Forms - Create surveys, quizzes and feedback forms.

Installing Microsoft 365 on your personal device

In addition to the web applications, students can install Microsoft 365 desktop applications on their personal devices.

Student Benefit

Your Microsoft 365 license allows installation on up to (5) personal devices using your Patriots account. This includes: Windows computers, Mac's, Tablets and mobile devices.

Why use the desktop apps?

While the web apps are excellent for everyday use, the desktop apps offer additional capabilities including:

  • Advanced formatting and editing tools
  • Enhanced performance with large files
  • Offline access
  • More robust data analysis and presentation features

For major assignments, research projects and presentations, many students find the desktop applications provide the best user experience.

Cloud Storage with OneDrive

Every student receives access to OneDrive cloud storage through Microsoft 365.

  • Share documents securely with classmates and faculty

Tip: Saving important coursework to OneDrive helps protect your files in the event of computer loss, damage, or hardware failure.
